Montreal Area Ice Fishing Cabin Rentals

I did a little research this morning and found out where one can rent ice fishing cabins and equipment in the greater Montreal area. Most of them offer Perch, Pike and of course Walleye. There are 2 "lakes" here, they are in fact large areas of the Saint Lawrence. Lac Saint Louis is the closest to Montreal, and lac Saint Pierre is known for holding larger walleyes.

Hey Marc, André here from St-Francis Jigger. Hope you enjoyed the holiday season and were able to hit the lake somewhere. Listen, I've been doing quite well on St-Francis with perch over the years and this last weekend we did ok as well. My friend and I would like to try our luck at walleye. Other than a few articles read here and there and a few trials for fun on some of St-Francis' main lake points we haven't really tried this out yet. I was wondering if you could suggest a good place to try around Montreal (without giving away your secrets of course). I was thinking either the Ottawa River or Lac St-Pierre, but these two bodies of water are pretty foreign to me. I don't think I'll be headed out with a vehicle soon given the warm weather we've been having and I don't have a ski-doo, so we'd have to walk it from shore. I also don't have a depth sounder but could pick up a chart at trakmaps downtown. Do you have any suggestions as to where and how to get started? Do I absolutely need tip-ups for success? I have a few models of jigging spoons and plenty of jigs to at get started at least. Just need to find some minnows somewhere.
Any thoughts if you have the time would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers, André

Hi Marc,

What about fishing in general?

I don't have a boat and would like to fish around the Montreal area.

Any suggestions?

Durwin
